How to CANDLE

Step ONE

Choose a fire-proof vessel with a diameter of at least 9 cm. If you’re using glass, make sure it’s suitable for candle use — some glass can be quite thin and may shatter when exposed to heat.

Once you’ve selected your vessel, carefully pour in your candle sand. Give the vessel a gentle shake to spread the sand evenly and create a smooth, level surface.

STEP TWO

Take a wick and cut it in half. A 3.5 cm long wick should give you around 4 hours of burn time and will help you get the most out of your packet (refill packs are always available if you need more).

Once trimmed, gently place the wick into the candle sand, making sure it stands upright and not on a lean.

✨ Want to experiment? If your vessel is large enough, you can try adding 2 or 3 wicks. Just keep at least 4 cm between each wick and the edge of the vessel to prevent wax build-up and tunnelling, and at least 3 cm between multiple wicks.

STEP THREE

Get ready, set… light! Sit back, relax, and enjoy the warm glow of your candle. ✨

STEP FOUR

When you’re ready to put your candle out, extinguish the flame gently (to avoid blowing sand everywhere). Allow the wax to set.

  • If there’s wick left: you can simply relight it. For a cleaner look, flip the wick over, push the hardened end into the sand, and light the other side.
  • If the wick has completely burnt out: lift out the hardened wax, give it a light shake to dust it off, and discard the old hardened wax.

Now you’re ready to start again! Trim a new wick in half to around 3.5 cm, place it into the sand, light, and enjoy the glow all over again. ✨
